Through the NC II training program offered by the Technical and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), you can improve and enhance your knowledge in various areas of domestic work, such as cleaning and cooking. Many domestic workers have varying backgrounds when it comes to training. This makes it hard for an employer to simply pick any applicant to become their employee.
This is also why employers usually check the training background and relevant certification on top of the experience of domestic workers to see if they can meet the needs of their families.
Domestic Worker Training in the Philippines
People in the Philippines must complete a training course in order to work as domestic helpers. This differs from other countries where this profession is only allowed for those with a training course.
The course typically costs around PHP 1,000. After successfully completing the course, students need to pay another PHP 100 to obtain their certification. This course helps the domestic helpers get their contracts renegotiated, and it prevents them from getting lured into harsh conditions.
Note: The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority is reviewing its online training program launched in March 2021. Its success will determine whether the training program will be delivered online or not.
The Domestic Work NC II course is a requirement for anyone working with domestic helpers. This course can be taken at various training facilities across the country.
Domestic Work NC II Course Overview
What you can expect in this course: This course will teach you various skills needed in order to improve your performance in various tasks, such as cooking and cleaning houses, and many others including:
- Doing the laundry and ironing clothes, linen and drapery
- Handling food and beverage
- Maintaining an effective relationship with clients and customers
- Maintaining the house, dining room, bedrooms, toilet and kitchen clean.
- Making hot and cold meals/food
- Managing one’s performance and responsibilities
Course Duration: This course requires a minimum of 216 hours to complete.
Eligibility
Aside from having the ability to read and write, trainees and students also have to have the necessary commitment and knowledge to complete the course.
Requirements:
- Copy of Birth Certificate authenticated by NSO
- Certified True Copy of Transcript of Records
- 1×1 Pictures
- Copy of High school or College Diploma
- Certificate of Good Moral Character
